Jules Cluzel takes WSS pole at sweltering Phillip Island
By Trevor Hedge
Jules Cluzel continued his hot form on the MV Agusta F3 675 through to the World Supersport qualifying session to take pole position on a very hot Phillip Island circuit late this afternoon.
Jules Cluzel, pole – “It was a very hard session, the hardest of the weekend, I am happy with pole position but I can’t be too happy as we are not doing as well as before, so we need to go back and analyse, but I am glad for pole position and looking forward to a good race tomorrow.”
Turk Kenan Sofuoglu piloted his Kawasaki ZX-6R to second on the grid ahead of Zanetti.
Kenan Sofuoglu – “I was really pushing very hard, grip levels have dropped, I had problems yesterday and this morning and reflecting on that we did very well this afternoon. I will try my best tomorrow.”
Zanetti – “I didn’t know what to expect here, yesterday I had a big problem, but it was important to get this first row for tomorrow, also tomorrow it will be important to make the tyre last, I did a long run this morning and I think we are in good shape.”
Aiden Wagner managed a 1m34.520 in the hot condition to score a highly creditable 12th place on the grid.
Glenn Scott will start from 18th position, Alex Phillis 20th and Sam Lambert qualified 23rd.
The 18-lap World Supersport race is scheduled to start at 1310 tomorrow afternoon.
