Yamaha Motor Australia has extended its gratitude and best wishes to AMA/World Supercross Champion Chad Reed as he embarks on the next step of his career.
During his time with the manufacturer, Reed’s personable and down-to-earth approach has seem him form many valuable relationships with Yamaha staff and its dealer network Australia-wide.
His success on an international level, including 2 AMA/World titles, is a testament to his ability and his desire to support and promote grassroots racing on a local scale is admirable.
Speaking ahead of his switch to another motorcycle manufacturer, Reed reflected on his time with Yamaha.
“It’s been an amazing ride with Yamaha Motor Co.,” said Reed.
“They have been awesome to me and I have thoroughly enjoyed my time there over the last seven years.”
“Together we have won 35 SX races, two World SX titles and two AMA SX titles, so it has been nothing less than a successful partnership.”
“In addition to these on track achievements I have made lifelong friendships within the Yamaha fold with some of my closest friends working within YMUS and YMA.”
“I am very grateful that I’ve had the chance to experience what it was like to be a part of a great company like Yamaha Motor Co and to have had the chance to work with some very influential people in both my professional and personal lives.”
“I have nothing but respect for Keith McCarty and his staff from YMUS and Steven Cotterell and his staff from YMA – I truly thank them for all the great memories!”
“All that said it is time for a new chapter in my life – I’m extremely excited for my next challenge.”
Director/General Manager of Yamaha Motor Australia, Steve Cotterell extended his thanks to Reed on behalf of the manufacturer.
“Chad has been a great ambassador for the sport both in Australia and abroad and we thank him for the huge success he has brought the Yamaha brand,” said Cotterell.
“It has been a rewarding experience charting his career in Australia, Europe and the US over the years but always on a YZ,” he said.
“I would like to thank him for the effort he has put in on our behalf and for the outstanding role model he has become to younger riders wanting to get ahead in our sport.”
“On a personal level I have always been impressed with the way Chad takes time out to drop into YMA HQ to greet our staff or attend kids’ ride days.”
“I wish him all the best for the future whatever that may hold.”
Yamaha Motor US will announce in the very near future a solid factory and support team rider lineup to spearhead its AMA Supercross Open and Lites class title defence and AMA Outdoor motocross campaigns.
